Sept. 22nd at about 2:oo pm

This morning the doctor said some of Coreys lines are starting to look infected, and hsi cathedar lines are kind of kinked and they would have better results if they were moved to diffrent arteries. It is more risky because of how sick he is and all the infection and fluid. If they left the lines they would be infected anyway. So they are in the process of trying to find arteries that will work and getting everything in place again. I will update more when they are done!

Sept. 20th. 3:00pm

Right now things are looking up for Corey. They are cutting back on some of the meds that are keeping his bloodpressue up to see how he does. They have cut back on his oxygen to 80% and he is handling it we.. His temp. is way down from yesterday but it has kicked back up a little in the last couple hours. We will know soon if Dr. Crawford wants to take the balloon pump out today or not.

Sept.20th about 2:00am

Well it was a hard day. As of right now Corey is holding his own. His blood preassure is still to low even though he is on 3 meds to raise it and he is getting about 4 times the maximum dos

Sept.18 about 9:00pm

Corey is so sick but fighting. His numbers are all still really bad. The doctors are doing everything they can but there isnt anything else they can do. We just had some familt come up and give him a blessing.

Sept. 18th about 4:30pm

At this point the doctors just came and told us there is relativly little left that they can do. And everything they are doing is starting to fail. They will continue to do the antibiotics and give him the blood pressure medicine. He is in GODs hands now.

Sept. 18th about 10:30am

They just wanted to move Corey down to radiology to get a CT scan of his belly to try and see if they can find what is causing his infection and they started to move him and his blood pressure dropped dangerously low. They immediately stoped and they arnt going to try and move him. He is to fragile and unstable. I am asking everyone that is willing to pray they will be able to figure out where all the infection is coming from so they can fight it better. We appriciate all the prayers that have been offered for us.
On a funnier not, I am in the waiting room right outside the ICU and there is a woman about 40 who is running through the halls naked, kinda dragging her hospital gown behind her. The nurses are all chasing her trying to get her back in her room and covered up!

Sept. 18th about 8:00am

I just went in and saw Corey and he is holding his own. They have completly taken him off one of the three meds raising his blood pressure. Everytime I have gone in he has opened his eyes and looked at me. He is able to nod a little bit but it is hard cuz he is so weak. His face is alot less swollen. They have been able to get 200 cc's of fluid extra off him every hour for a day now and I can see the improvement. I will post more later today.

september 17th, 8:00pm

I was just able to visit Corey and he has an awesome nurse right now who has cut back on the sedation a little bit. He was able to look at me and nod his head a little bit. If his oxygen levels stay up she will leave the sedation lower. I loved it. I love when he can respond to me a little bit. His vital signs are all looking a little better and his tempature is coming down a little bit. The doctor in the ICU said it is normal for him to have good days and bad days.
Heres something else the nurse told me that kind of is scary. He is the sickest patient in the hospital and has been since he got here saturday. They are taking excellent care of Corey!

Back ground..

Okay I have been getting tons of questions and texts asking about Corey and while I am happy to answer them, I decided to write this blog to let everyone know better what is going on.
About the first week in september Corey was feeling really sick. We have been to doctors and then to the emergency room for tests. They did Xrays and a ct scan and couldnt find anything. A few days later we went and had an EGD done and he had a really inflamed stomach. While all this was going on Corey was just getting sicker and weaker but still refusing to go to the emergency room because they couldnt find anything anyway.
Last saturday the 11th he was unresponsive and so we called the ambulance to come get him. They tock him to Davis hospital because it is the closest and Corey was so critical. They worked on him for about 2 hours trying to stabalize him when the decision was made to transfer him to a better hospital with a better ICU.
We got him transferred and they figured out he has a sepsis infection. They started him on tons of antibiotic to fight what ever might be causing the infection. His blood pressure has been so low they cant find it. I have seen it about 30/15ish. They are giving him massive amounts of meds to bring it up and that also raises his heart rate. Coreys heart rate got so fast and out of control on sunday they had to do CPR and shock him 3 diffrent times. He always comes out of it pretty fast but sunday they didnt think he was going to survive. His white blood cell count was up about 28,000 when normal is about 11,000. He has had a fever of about 105. They sedated and eventually paralized him to help his body heal and fight the infection. His kidneys shut down and he has gained alot of fluid and is really puffy. On sunday they had some serious concerns about his heart. (He has had Congestive Heart Failure for the last 10 years). They ended up putting a balloon pump around the artery in his heart that makes it pump more efficently. It give Corey an extra 2 liters of blood per minute to circulate through his body. They also put in a cardiac catheder which is wire that go through the artery in his chest to his heart that tell us exactly what his heart is doing and the pressures in his heart. They have him on a ventilator breathing machine because he wasnt breathing on his own very well. They do lung treatments about every 4 hours because his lungs work extra hard to try and help his weak heart.
He stayed pretty stable and everything looked pretty good on wednesday and thursday. On thursday he was able to open his eyes and look at us for a few seconds when we would go see him.
Then thursday night he started back sliding and his blood pressure dropped low, his heart rate went to high, his fever came back and his white blood cells went back up. His oxygen levels also dropped again. He had also gained about 50 pounds because he hasnt been peeing. So this morning they put him on an IV dialisys machine that is pumping the blood from him into a machine and seperating the fluid from the blood and then puts the blood back and the fluid goes down the toilet.
The doctor says he is holding his own setbacks are expected during an ICU stay and they are hopeful.
We greatly appricate all the support and prayers we have recieved from everyone. Please continue to keep him in your prayers and I will continue to update everyone as things go on.
